When to Use EMMA

 Narcotic Control

Misuse of narcotics and other Schedule II medications is a growing problem.  New Government regulations are forcing practices to better track and manage a patient’s Schedule II medications.

EMMA® provides both the inventory control and delivery history to properly manage these dangerous medications. With its ability to restrict access to the unit with PIN codes and by counting the pills in each blister card, EMMA® provides a layer of control unachievable without out-patient delivery systems.

Multi-user EMMA® allows group homes to manage the narcotics of multiple patients. With the pain assessment interview feature, the EMMA® Unit can be set to prompt the caregiver before and an hour after delivering the medication for the patient.

Using EMMA for Narcotic Control can provide the following benefits:

  • Improved Patient Safety
  • Inventory control of narcotics and other Schedule II medications
  • Documented Medication Administration
  • Integrated Pain Assessment Feature
  • Will automatically call a secondary caregiver if the primary caregiver has not delivered the medications on time.
