Where to Use EMMA

In-home Care

If you or someone you know is one of the 23 million Americans who have three or more chronic diseases, you can appreciate the need for proper medication management.

EMMA® is an ideal tool for in-home medication management. Prescriptions can be delivered via a certified EMMA® mail order, pharmacy or retail. These medications are packaged in a Blister Card instead of an amber bottle. The patient or caregiver inserts the Blister Card into EMMA® much like a CD is inserted into a car stereo. EMMA® does the rest. EMMA® can hold up to 10 prescriptions for up to 30 days.

If a patient is taking more than 10 prescriptions, an auxiliary unit may be used which can hold up to another 10 prescriptions. All changes in dosing are supplied to the pharmacist, who reconciles the medications and remotely schedules each.

Using EMMA for In-Home Care can provide the following benefits:

  • Reduces the number of in-home visits to manage medications
  • Better quality of life for the patient
  • Allows the patient to live independently
  • Will automatically call a primary caregiver or family member if the patient does not take their medications on time.

6% of the patients consume approximately 45% of the heath care dollars. Using EMMA® in the patient’s home can help reduce the cost of managing these “high risk” patients.
